Excellent experience, great hosts. We did the complete process of preparing a traditional Guyanese dish: from visiting the market for ingredients to meal prep and original music. I refer this experience for anyone visiting Guyana.

The Singing Chef is a gem to check out while you are in Georgetown. Jessica and Eon provided for an intimate dinner, just them and my partner and I in their secret garden, sharing stories, song, and a fabulously delicious meal from local ingredients, and a glass of rum or two. Out of our one week in Guyana this was the closest local connection we made. Very highly recommended. Check out their website. They do tours and dinners.

Best cooking tour across three countries; wonderful intimate experience
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
My partner and I have taken cooking classes/tours in three countries: South Africa, Sri Lanka, and this in Guyana. This was far and away the BEST in all aspects - the taste of the food, uniqueness of experiences beyond the cooking, and the interactions with the hosts. I especially loved how the tour told the story of Guyana's people - from their history as slaves and indentured workers, to the country's independence and present-day - through a culinary lens. Connecting history and food culture is a personal passion of mine, and I felt the hosts uniquely shared this passion with me.
The hosts, Eon and Jessica, could not be a more warm and interesting pair. My partner and I were the only ones on the tour, so it was a really intimate experience and we got to know them well. They have extremely interesting backgrounds, having both lived all over the world, then chose Guyana as their home. They are passionate about the food, music, and culture of Guyana, and about creating opportunities for local people and indigenous communities. Seeing and feeling their dedication to their country and community is inspiring, and really made us feel like our trip was meaningful.
The tour itself took us to numerous stops throughout Georgetown: Indian immigration monument, Bourda market, juice vendor, coconut water vendor, Tony's Puri Shop, lotus leaf harvesting, and finally Eon and Jessica's home where we prepared lunch. This gave us a glimpse of everyday life in Georgetown, and also gave a sense of what a tight-knit "small town"-like feel Georgetown has. Tony's Puri Shop was a highlight - exceptionally good dhal puri filled with potato-soya curry that was arguably the most delicious thing I've ever tasted.
The cooking itself was fun and easy. Eon and Jessica have streamlined the process so that guests learn the key steps and ingredients, without being overwhelmed or distracted by prep that'll take all day. Their backyard is set up with a kitchen, dining/prep tables, and stage under two covered areas that provide shade (or rain protection on such days). They have several fans to keep the area comfortable even in Guyana's humid environment. After we ate, Eon performed a few songs with his guitar, which was a really nice endcap to the day.
Logistics: We booked online via TripAdvisor, and we exchanged confirmation messages with Jessica here. (By comparison, I tried to also arrange a visit to Backyard Cafe, but could never get them to answer any WhatsApp messages.) Eon and Jessica picked us up at our hotel via taxi in the morning around 9 am. The taxi took us around town. They ordered us a taxi back to our hotel at the end of the tour, probably a bit after 2 pm. Eon and Jessica provided some photos and all recipes to us afterwards.
We enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone visiting Guyana. The personal touch makes this incredibly worthwhile.

Amazing food, history and music!
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
Amazing time spent with Eon and Jessica! The tour was amazing, we got to learn so much about Guyanese history especially as it relates to Indian heritage and food. We stopped at the market, the botanical garden and Tony’s Puri shop for the best dhal puri ever! Eon and Jessica were very knowledgeable and easy to connect with. The food we made was amazing and the music was great too. We’ve only been back from our trip for two days and have already started remaking some of the curries we had on the tour. Overall we would recommend anyone take this tour to experience some of Guianas culture through food and amazing storytelling.

A wonderful relaxing and informative day exploring the magnificent 1c Magenta
Tripadvisor review: One Cent Magenta Stamp Tour with Lunch
This was a very interesting and informative tour. Having a personal connection to the stamp made it even more special.
This tour is very well structured from visiting the museum to see the actual press that produced the stamp, to the original post offing where it was initialled. We even got a chance to see the type of newspaper of that period of which the stamp was used to post.
The day finished with a traditional meal from those old colonial days, expertly cooked by Eon and Jessica. Great hosts and I learnt so much!

A wonderful day
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
We have had the most fabulous day with singing chef adventures.
Jess and Eon couldn't do enough for our family. So much valuable information and history of beautiful Guyana. From visiting the market, drinking coconut water and the amazing juice and Dhal Puri at Tony's to picking our own leaves and cooking the curry together as a group! It really was worth every penny.
Thank you so much!

Absolutely wonderful
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
It's been an absolute amazing experience. We learned about Guyana's history, did a bit of sightseeing and went shopping at the market to get all the fresh ingredients. It felt like we're visiting friends and family, crooked together and had some good laughs. We've been very lucky because it was just us and no other guests for that particular day. But even with more guests I am sure the experience is an absolute amazing experience and you shouldn't miss it while visiting beautiful Guyana.

what an amazing night - must do in Georgetown
Tripadvisor review: Dinner in the Secret Garden of Guyana with The Singing Chef
Thank you Eon and Jessica for a beautiful dinner. All of the food was incredible - pumpkin soup with bitter melon, the ocean trout and breadfruit fritter, the coconut creme pat. And we are still raving about the fruit plate and guava juice. Wonderful conversation, beautiful music, and an unforgettable evening. I'd recommend dinner in the secret garden to anyone visiting Guyana. We can't wait to return!

Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
Absolutely incredible experience! Honestly one of the best tours I've taken in all my travels. It combined history of Guyana, fresh foods, shopping like a local, hospitality of a home, dinner with friends, and an actual singer as a chef! The food was delicious, the company was outstanding, and the overall experience was smashing. I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Georgetown. Jessica and Eon are truly remarkable and wonderful people.

Fantastic 7 curry tour
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
We had a fabulous time learning about the history, culture and food of Guyana. Jessica and Eon are very knowledgeable, warm, funny and hospitable. We absolutely loved the visit to Tony puris shop, stopping for water coconuts and picking lotus leaves. We had fun helping to prepare the food and learned lots about the various spices and vegetables in the recipes. The food was delicious and afterwards we relaxed with songs and entertainment from Eon. This tour was full of amazing experiences, it was definitely a highlight of our trip and I would highly recommended it.
We also went on their Taste of Freedom tour which was also outstanding.

Fun experience with 7 curry tour
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
If you ever plan to visit Guyana, you should never miss the cooking class experience with the Singing Chef Adventure represented by the two amazing couple (Ms. Jessica and Mr. Eon). We had lots of fun and learned about Guyana’s history, culture, and music. The trip started with local market, roti bread makers stops where we interacted with so many local people, tasted and experienced new fruits and vegetables and delicious local roti bread and coconut fresh drinks. The couple are so adorable and you feel their worm and hospitality. Their outdoor kitchen is so cozy and it gives you jungle atmosphere with all available services. The 7 curry cooking session was so informative and we learned a lot of spice mixing and cutting techniques. The food turned to be so yummy and delicious, and we could not stop eating and enjoying the music performance from Chef Eon. We highly recommend Singing Chef Adventure tour and please do not miss it at all.

Fabulous dinner in Georgetown with great company
Viator review: Dinner in the Secret Garden of Guyana with The Singing Chef
Eon and Jessica are charming and entertaining couple, the food is absolutely delicious and Eon is an accomplished singer. The song lyrics also are very relevant to Guyana, and brought back some memories from the previous 2 weeks travelling there.
Chatting with them both gave some insights into their very remarkable life histories and also some more ideas to return to Guyana for another trip. Highly recommended, and (for me) a very pleasant way to finish off my trip to Guyana.

A Fusion of Flavor, Knowledge, and Melodies!
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
Led by the talented Singing Chef and his wife Jessica, the 7 Curry Tour in Guyana was a captivating experience. From picking lotus leaves for our meal to savoring delicious roti at Tony Roti Shop, every moment was filled with culinary delights. The Singing Chef's vibrant performances and Jessica's warm hospitality added an extra charm. Educational insights about Guyanese curries, local spices and a trip to the local market enhanced the journey. The delicious cool thirst quenching coconut water was the absolute cherry on top of an amazing culinary experience. Ending with a private concert by the Singing Chef, this tour was an enchanting fusion of flavor, knowledge, and melodies.

Top Class Experience. An absolute MUST!
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
My partner and I absolutely loved our 7 Curry Tour with Eon and Jessica. They graciously shared their experience and knowledge about food, music, and Georgetown's history among other passions they have. This was hands down the best tour we had in Guyana, surpassing our expectations. My only regret was that we had to leave for home the following day and couldn't repeat the tour all over again. I left Guyana with a new perspective on the culture's food and rich history. I look forward to doing another tour with Singing Chef Adventures.

Best tour I went on in Guyana
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
I could not recommend this tour enough. Eon and Jessica are extremely knowledgeable and super personable. I went on this tour with my boyfriend and we did not want to leave. As a Guyanese-American, they taught me a lot about my history that I didn't even know. I enjoyed touring an outdoor market with them, cutting lotus leaves to eat off of and learning how to cook 7 Curry.

Outstanding experience
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
I would like to express how wonderful this experience was. First, the kindness and joyful spirit of Eon (the Chef) and his wife, Jessica is bountiful and makes for a very pleasant time. Not only was the day spent with them well organized, but included a diversity of scenarios across Georgetown. We met different people, including a medicinal herb man, and saw and participated with in the making of traditional roti. Later, in their beautiful home, Eon and Jessica were generous in sharing delicious food and knowledge with us, not only about the food being prepared but also about the complex history and culture of Guyana. I wholeheartedly recommend this activity to all visitors. You will not be disappointed.

A NOT TO BE MISSED EXPERIENCE!
Tripadvisor review: Georgetown 7 Curry Tour
I spent the day with Eon John and Jessica and it was an absolute highlight of my trip. It's such a well-crafted experience for travelers that they've curated. They are very hospitable hosts and give you wonderful access to locals in the market and a local Puri shop. I kind of hate going on tours when I travel. It often feels like some operator is earning a lot of money for a very standard experience you could get on your own, if you had your own transportation, but that isn't the case here at all. You get the sense that they love opening up the world of their country and culture to visitors. At the end of the day, I felt like I was hanging out with local friends in their garden, not tour guides. That's the best kind of experience, isn't it? It's an experience with a whole lot of heart. If you're on the fence about whether to book this tour or not, I'd offer that you should - 100%. They also have other experiences that they host. If I was here longer I'd have loved to travel into the Amerindian villages of the jungle with them - so ask them about that, if it interests you. Overall sentiment: This is a part of your Guyana trip that is NOT TO BE MISSED!
